Regular Health Examinations
It is important to maintain the health of your pet. Yearly health examinations help to detect and prevent medical problems early while they are easier to treat. Don't forget to update your animal's yearly booster shots to keep them protected.A yearly regular exam involves a systemic exam of all the body organ systems, but Dr. Garner gives a great emphasis on ear checks and routine ear cleaning, eye checkups, anal glands, and dental hygiene.
Geriatric Care
Your animals are considered to be geriatric at age eight. At this time it is recommended that you have a complete health exam performed. This includes comprehensive blood work (we can perform a complete analysis in house), a complete urinalysis and chest X-rays. It is important to perform this geriatric exam for a number of reasons: at this age your pet's body begins to change internally. If we can catch deteriorative changes in progress we can often correct, improve, or prevent the problem from getting worse by means of diet or medicine. This will allow them to live a longer and more comfortable life.
